Aims of the programs Vision:

To be a leading education and research institution in the field of applied economics compatible with public interest.

 

Missions:

(i)        organizing aqualified education of Economics of Development through critical, creative and innovative thinking approaches,

(ii)      conducting qualified research and other scientific activities and displaying the results for the needs of economics of development,

(iii)                  (iii)  conducting community services based on the results of the research and education based on the need of the stakeholders.

 

Objectives:

(i)       creating graduates mastering economics of developmentfield and its application,

(ii)     creating graduates that are able to think and act critically, creatively, and innovatively,

(iii)    creating graduatesthat are able to communicate effectively, and

(iv)    apply the economics of development concepts and models useful for community.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Learning Outcome 1 (LO1): Students are able to understand the concept models in general economics, including microeconomics and macroeconomics theory.
  2. Learning Outcome 2 (LO2): Students are able to understand conceptmodel in Economics of Development (with the orientation of developing country cases).
  3. Learning Outcome 3 (LO3): Students are able to understand and apply applied quantitative methods, particularly in the field that related to Economics
  4. Learning Outcome 4 (LO4): Students are able to understand the specific concepts and principles of economics and development, such as Finance and Banking, Regional Planning, Resource Economics, and Public Finance.
  5. Learning Outcome 5 (LO5): Students are able to apply or link the basic economics theories to the applied analyses, policies, and empirical issues in Economics of Development.
  6. Learning Outcome 6 (LO6): Students are able to analyze issues in the form of research activities in economics of development field appropriately according to basic rules of scientific/academics.
  7. Learning Outcome 7 (LO7): Students are able to express clearly their opinion, argument or idea in good structure of communication, both in oral and in written.
  8. Learning Outcome 8 (LO8): Students are able to keep good communication, cooperation, and relationship with other parties related to the implementation of their duties and the fulfillment of their right.
  9. Learning Outcome 9 (LO9): Students understand their potential in order to develop their entrepreneurial skills, findappropriate employment, and empowering the society.
  10. Learning Outcome 10 (LO10): Students are able to develop their independence and managerial skills.
  11. Learning Outcome 11 (LO11): Students are able to show their belief to the God Almighty, good moral, ethics, and personality.
  12. Learning Outcome 12 (LO12): Students have a good integrity in doing their duties and right.
  13. Learning Outcome 13 (LO13): Students are also able to respect the diversity in culture and norms, to respect others’ opinions, and others’ original inventions.
Admission Criteria to the program Prospective students generally need to graduate from Senior High School. The admission procedure (test) for prospective students are conducted through four types of selection organized by the university:

  1. National Selection of State University (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/SNMPTN)
  2. Collective Selection of State University (Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri/SBMPTN)
  3. Mandiri SPMK Selection (local examination)
  4. Special Program Selection of Persons with Disabilities (Seleksi Program Khusus Penyandang Disabilitas/SPKPD)

For international student admission, the procedure is managed by the international office of university (www.io.ub.ac.id).

Teaching, learning and assesment strategies Teaching and Learning Methods encourage Student Centred Learning: lectures, practical classes and seminar, small group discussion, study group and simulation.

The process of evaluation uses different approaches including class participation, quizzes, structured assignments, mid-term examination and final examination.

Year of Establishment January 1963 (in the beginning it was named Department of General Economics (Jurusan Umum), then it was changed into Department of Economics and Development Studies (Jurusan Ilmu Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan), and based on Dirjen Dikti decree No: 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007, on 29th November 2007, it  became Department of Economics (Jurusan Ilmu Ekonomi) with Study Program of Economics of Development(EDSP)
