In 2014, Economics Department, Economics and Business Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya collaborating with ASEAN Consortium of Economics Department held the third scientific conference of ASEAN Consortium on Department of Economics Conference (ACDEC). The ASEAN Consortium of Economics Department basically consists of some universities in South East Asia, such as Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Mara University of Technology University, Padjajaran University, Airlangga University, and Trisakti University. ACDEC is an annually conference that has been successful in accommodating economic discourses in the level of ASEAN since 2012. The economic discourses discussed in the conference are related to the issues of economic development and trade among ASEAN countries as well as the competitiveness in South East Asia.
The conference was held from the 4th to the 6th of December 2014 with a theme of “Interregional Trade, Competitiveness, And the Role of Small Businesses towards ASEAN Economic Community (AEA) 2015”bound with sub themes as follows:
Moreover, the conference aimed at supporting academies through education available in ASEAN to prepare for ASEAN Economic Community 2015 so that they are ready to face opportunities and challenges from ASEAN countries in applying ASEAN Economic Community 2015.
The third ACDEC held by Economics Department, Economics and Business Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya invited some presenters for plenary sessions. The presenters come from different backgrounds and master the issues of economic development, trade, and competitiveness towards ASEAN Economic Community. There were Prof. Tri Widodo, Ph. D. from Gajah Mada University, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Dan Jantan from University of North Malaysia (Universitas Utara Malaysia/ UUM), and Dr. Ir. Kasan, M.M. from Director of Foreign Trade Policy Center, Trade Department as the presenters. The presenters generally were expected to thoroughly deliver topics concerning the issues of economic development, trade, and competitiveness in South East Asia in order to face MEA 2015.
In order to support the third conference of ACDEC, Economics Department, Economic and Business Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya also invited academies, students, stakeholders, and government to send their papers concerning the sub themes and present the papers.
